Please join us in welcoming James Beard Award-winning author and Chef Lois Ellen Frank, Ph.D., and Chef Walter Whitewater for a talk about their new cookbook Seed to Plate, Soil to Sky: Modern Plant-Based Recipes using Native American Ingredients. Their cookbooks are staples in the Upaya kitchen.

Learn about the history of the Magic Eight plants–Corn, Beans, Squash, Chiles, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Vanilla, and Cacao–the foods that make up the chapters in the new cookbook.

After the talk, sample handmade empanadas and tamales from recipes in the cookbook.

Schedule:

This event will begin with a talk on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. U.S. Mountain Standard Time (MST), followed by a sample of handmade empanadas and tamales at 6:30 p.m. MST.
